The Lake Jackson Soccer Club (LJSC) is pleased to offer a scholarship program for soccer athletes in need of financial assistance in order to play. This scholarship is used to cover the cost of partial or full registration fees. The goal of the LJSC Scholarship Program is to make the soccer experience available to all qualified soccer players who have the desire and commitment, but who may not otherwise be able to afford the experience. Qualification takes into consideration financial needs as well as other factors that may influence a player’s ability to play with LJSC. However, since the financial resources of the LJSC Scholarship Fund are limited, the availability and amount of scholarships is also limited to true financial hardship situations. Scholarships are not always available and vary season to season due to the availability of funds. Each scholarship request will be considered on a per- season basis. To fairly distribute available funds an in-depth application is required with supporting documentation. Accounts may vary due to individual circumstances and need. 

Responsibility 

Players receiving scholarships and their families are required to exert a maximum effort to do volunteer work for team and/or LJSC functions as requested. Failure to do so may result in a review of the scholarship granted. Parents/Guardians of scholarship players will be expected to participate in possible LJSC and team fundraisers. 

Deadlines 

All applications must be received one week prior the Registration deadline date for Fall and/or Spring seasons. Late applications will be considered only if funds are available. All applications will be reviewed as they are received. Applicants who submit complete, signed applications with all attachments will be notified in writing whether or not their request is approved by the Scholarship Committee. 

Scholarship Approval 

Before a scholarship will be awarded, the parents or guardians of the prospective scholarship recipient must complete the scholarship application. If the paperwork is not provided or the Scholarship Committee determines that there is insufficient basis for a scholarship based on need the scholarship will be denied. These decisions will be made on a case by case basis. All scholarship requests must be approved by the Scholarship Committee. The Scholarship Committee of LJSC will review all Scholarship Applications. The Scholarship Committee will then make a recommendation on each scholarship request to the remainder of the LJSC Board for approval. The parent will receive written notification of the Board’s decision whether or not the scholarship is awarded. 

Confidentiality 

All scholarship information is for the sole purpose of helping LJSC decide who the neediest individuals are for a particular season. These scholarship requests are strictly confidential and will not be shared with anyone other than LJSC Board Members and the LJSC Scholarship Committee.
